Something you know: like a password or PIN, and
Something you have: such as a smartphone app (Google Authenticator, Authy), a hardware token, or SMS codes.

This extra layer helps protect against unauthorized access, even if passwords are compromised. Enabling 2FA on platforms—like email, cloud storage, and banking—adds a critical defense against cyber threats.
